Hotel ILUNION Barcelona is recognized for its accessibility features and dedication to inclusivity. Certified for universal accessibility, the hotel provides specialized rooms and facilities designed for individuals with reduced mobility. The staff is trained to accommodate various accessibility needs, and the hotel collaborates with the ONCE Foundation to enhance its inclusive services. The property includes rooms with wide spaces for maneuvering, bathrooms with roll-in showers, grab bars, and adjustable features, as well as a rooftop pool with an elevator for access and a hoist for water entry.
For our 6-night stay, we chose Hotel ILUNION Barcelona in the Poblenou district, east of the city center. The nearest accessible metro station (Llacuna, Line 4) is 600 meters away, and several buses operate nearby. Poblenou’s lively Rambla is just around the corner.
The hotel is very accessible, and the staff is friendly and accommodating. Partnering with the ONCE Foundation, the staff is well-trained in assisting guests with disabilities.
Our accessible room (No. 601) featured a double bed with ample space to maneuver in front. While the right side of the bed was narrower (85 cm clearance), the left side offered better access. The bed, at 56 cm high, included a mechanism to raise the mattress. Note: If you need a hoist, inform the hotel in advance to have bed supports installed, as a bar under the bed may otherwise block access.
Storage was convenient, with a large wardrobe featuring a pull-down rail and a storage box near the bed. The desk had a height of 75 cm with a 67 cm clearance underneath, and power outlets were accessible on both sides of the bed and above the desk.
The bathroom was spacious, with a roll-in shower featuring a foldable glass door, an adjustable wall-mounted seat with armrests (seat height ranging from 34 to 64 cm), and grab bars. However, the shower's usable space might be limited to 1.1 m if a wheelchair is parked beside the seat. The WC was 47 cm high, with fixed and foldable grab bars.
The rooftop pool was accessible via a vertical lift to the terrace and a ramp to the poolside. A hoist was also available for pool entry.
Our stay cost approximately €170 per night for a double room, excluding breakfast (€18 per person for the buffet). While the hotel is highly accessible, guests with specific shower needs should confirm space adequacy beforehand.
